The Flu.....

Well Gretchen has the Flu.... We had a long day yesterday... She had a fever Saturday night and Sunday, The themother that we had I dont think took accurate temps.. So the highest temp reading i got was 100.7 which wasnt bad at all. So Monday and tuesday she really seemed fine no fever, no real cough except when she was playing. Then Wedsnday came and she had a fever agian and the cough was back agian. So i called the Doctor and went in to see him our normal doctor was out so we saw someone else. Really didnt like him but needed to get gretchen seen. So we went in she was not going to allow them to take her temp and He felt of her thorat and said she had brontactics so we left with a script for antibodtics... So i came home dropped her off with the nanny and ran to get the script and some other things... Came back and she was napping so i woke her up gave her the meds and she went back to sleep... I decided to go to work being David would be home soon. So i had been to work for about a hour and half and the nanny called and said just wanted to let you know she has been coughing since you left and to the point of gagging herself.. Not knowing if it was a recation to the medicine I called the DR. after about 20mins on hold we got the answer i had been dreading go to the ER... David came in the office to give me his work tickets. He was talking to our boss. I walked over shut my computer off and went to our boss and said i have to go, Gretchen needs to go to the ER. When I got home less then 5mins later ( love living so close to work) She was just ending a coughing fit. So i sat with her for a few mins and then got her stuff ready to go... David came in and we left for the ER dreading it the whole time for 2 reasons. 1)who likes going to the hospital anyway and 2) we knew what we were looking at for wait time in a ER room at 5pm... So we pull up parking lot doesnt look loaded down with cars. Walk in almost empty!!! Super nice waiting room too... We were there for about 2.5-3 hours in total, Not bad since i have waited in a waiting room that long and still hadnt been seen before. So when we got there her temp was 103.1 :(   We went back to the room and after waiting for a little bit nurses and doctors came in and we got the ball rolling on her treatment. Your normal OTC fever reducer, a breathing treatment, Xrays, and the flu test. So the breathing treatment was fun it took 3 of us to hold her down for her to take it then i think she just finally gave up and sat there and took it... I wish i would have gotten a picture of her but no luck... Then the X-ray... Lets just say it was NO fun for all parties involved in the process... After all that we waited a little bit longer, then the doc came in and said.......... She has the FLU!! Not your pooping flu but the good ol fashion respiratory flu... and a negative on her chest x-rays for pneumonia... So we came home with discharge papers tell us lots of rest and a inhaler and that in 7-12 days she should be better follow up with the DR next week and Get better soon... So after a stop at the walgreens to get a few things we came home and started treatment... After a crying/screaming episode cause i couldnt hold her, and do the 10 things i was trying to do and David was trying to take a shower after working all day...So we finally got settled and she passed out in my lap... So we got ready for bed and because (no matter what the doctors tell me) the best place for her to sleep is our bed. We gave her inhaler before we fell asleep and we made it though the night with no coughing fits!!! YAY!!!! This morning we woke up took another inhaler puff and got some juice and she went back to sleep... I have decided to stay home for the rest of the week with her so she can rest... Cause really she rest the best when it just her and mama!! The bummer thing about the timing of the flu is this week we are actually above 50 degrees we hit 60 yesterday it was SOO nice and she couldnt even get out and enjoy it. Depending on how she is feeling we may take a walk tomorrow so she can get outside and some fresh air...Well its time for me to get off here and enjoy my time off.... SLEEP!!! YAY!!

Well that is the pits - hope she is better. For once we are all well - shhhh, don't say that to loud.

Oh and you were right - David didn't respond to my asking about the ancestry - I was impressed not to get an F*** U from him - that was sort of what I expected - haha.
I guess it really doesn't matter - just thought I would ask - best left alone.
