to pump or not to pump??

So i am going to be breastfeeding, i know that is something i want to do and the only way i wont be doing it is if i dont get a milk supply which i see not being a problem.. Anyway, I want to get a pump cause i dont want to be the only one that feeds this little one, and i want to be able to maybe have a beer every once in awhile. While most of you know me on here and know i HARDLY ever drink, but i do enjoy a once in a blue moon drink. I dont want to be worried to leave her with someone while i run to the store to pick up something or whatever... So i want to pump every so often more to just release engorgement and so to give me a little more freedom and give other a chance to bond with her. I know when i went to my sisters house i LOVED being able to feed my newest niece. So i want to give that to people as well.. So I thought i found my pump the playtex drop in system, my friend recomened it and i thought oh well she loves it i will love it. Well then i opened my eyes a little bit and relized that it might not work as well for me as it did her. Even though she really didnt use it all that much cause her milk supply started reducing and she had to strictly breastfeed. I really dont like the idea of having to pay 200.00 bucks for a pump that i dont see getting regular use. So then i started looking around and asking what others were using. My lacation consulten that i have told me the meadlea (sp) in style is great and she loves it but dont use a pump for at least 6 weeks to establish breastfeeding.. So i was like oh ok well that pump is like 300+ so that is not happening. My sister in-law is having a baby as well she is going to use the lansinoah electric pump, so i looked into that, ok a price i can deal with started reading reviews still liked it, till i read one, "they say its BPA free but none of the parts are BPA free". So i still havent researched what the hell BPA is but i am sure its not good cause everything says its BPA free. So i felt defeeted and was like maybe i will just hand milk or whatever it is called.. I REALLY DONT WANT TO. so i looked into manual pumps and ***SIGH*** i mean they are cheaper so i mean i could just trial and error these for a little while but then i would be defeeting my purpose of cost. While i have been doing all this research i have found woman with larger boobs have a harder time with some of the pumps although havent figured out which pumps those are yet.. So that worries me as have started out at a size C-D cup. i am starting not to fit in my bras, and i still have till july to go...So i guess my search will go on...

Follow your heart - there is not that much BPA exposure and we are exposed to lots of other smog daily just breathing air. You can read yourself to death. Just decide on something and follow your heart - so what feels right to you and you won't know until you actually start all of it. I used a hand pump too - but when I got to use the electric one at the hosp - wow so much easier. This baby is not going to be permantly attached to your boobs - you can make it out too, but having breast milk on hand is great if you get tied up to long - relax or you will fail like I did from over exposure to "what the experts say"
It is all trial and error and no one can tell you what will work best for you - you just have to try different things. I do reccomend only breast for the first few weeks - but that is because it worked better for me.
